HIP Pocket Change is “The US Mint’s interactive official site for coin collecting kids. You can find out about the history of coin minting, what new quarters are due to be minted.”
Students can also learn about U.S. Coins by accessing their fun and engaging, educational games and interactives (categories below). They have some features that would work well with “Black History Month” and “President’s Day”.
Also check out their animated “Toons”…Birth of a Coin, Coins of the World, and Time Machine. Other cool features include…Coins and Medals, Mint History, Coin News, Collectors Club. H.I.P. Pocket Change is a fantastic site for coins but also for history in general. I’m adding this to my “Educational Game Sites” LiveBinder under the Social Studies tab.
