Digital Vaults is one resource you won’t want to miss.
This is an amazing site for anything about U.S.History.  The ability for teachers and students to create their own collections using items from the National Archives makes for endless learning opportunities in the classroom. Teachers and students can then create posters and movies with their collection. Click on “create” at bottom of screen to begin using this tool.  Amazing site with wonderful educational opportunities for students to create professional looking presentations.
           .

From the Site: “The National Archives new “Digital Vaults” exhibit delivers an online experience that is unlike any other. With a database of some 1,200 documents, photographs, drawings, maps, and other materials and a keywording system that visually links records, the Digital Vaults enables visitors to customize their exhibit experience and to create posters, movies, and games that can be shared by e-mail. Each record in Digital Vaults is also linked to the National Archives’ Archival Research Catalog (ARC), so visitors who want to know more can take the first steps toward a research journey into the National Archives.
The site has a special interactive resources section for educators and students. Teachers can get great ideas on lesson plans using reproducible primary sources, find information on teaching activities correlated to National Teaching Standards, and engage in a variety of professional development programs - on-site or online. Students can explore the depth and diversity of the holdings of the National Archives for their own school projects, gear up for National History Day, or even pick up a virtual pen and sign the Declaration of Independence!”

Excellent Tool for TpT and Teacher’s Notebook Sellers!

#elemchat #spedchat #postermaker
I hope this post is a good one because it is my 3,000th post. I can’t believe it. I love writing my blog and appreciate my readers tremendously. This is a fun journey I plan to continue for a long time.
OK so now on to the post.
Have you ever wanted to sell a large size poster on TpT or Teacher’s Notebook but didn’t know how to convert it to a pdf file? Well  PosteRazor will do that for you.
PosteRazor (free download) enlarges your images, documents, etc. and converts them into pdf files. Great for sharing and selling on TpT and Teacher’s Notebook.
For example, say you create a (1 page) copy of your latest anchor chart and want to sell or share a larger version of it on TpT. You want it to be 2’x3’. Once you have downloaded the free software you just upload your original document, adjust the settings for enlargement, and PosteRazor will turn it into a large poster in a flattened pdf format. Takes a matter of minutes!
Turn this…

into this! (formatted pdf file)

Below is an example of the pdf your customers will receive.

The video below shows how easy it will be for your customers to put it together.

Poster Razor is extremely accurate and the poster can be easily assembled by your customers. This is a free download of the program.
I’ve used Poster Razor many times and it has never failed me.

Communicating Ideas using Posters, Newspapers, and Comics is a fabulous interactive resource for students.
#elemchat #spedchat #literacy #newspapers #comics
Each interactive teaches about its subject through a neat little animated cartoon and when finished students can use the site’s tools to create their own (poster, newspaper,or comic). The final product can be printed. Totally terrific! Students will love this one for sure.
Added this to my Write On! for Kids LiveBinder.

How to Print an Infographic…Free and Easy!
From time to time I share cool infographics that I find while searching the web. These are great to use in the classroom but can be difficult to print if you don’t know how because of their sizes.
block posters is a perfect free tool to easily help you get the job done fast. Just follow the directions below.
Save the infographic to your computer. I use Chrome so I just right click on the image and “save image as”. Remember the location you save it to.
Next go to block posters and upload your image.
Now choose how many sheets wide you would like your poster to be when printed. A screen image to the left will let you see what it will look like.
Once you’re happy with your selection, you can download the PDF file and print as you normally do.
I’ve shared block posters before but just for enlarging images. I’m so happy to share that it is also great for infographics.

Another update! Art: Paint/Draw/Create LiveBinder
WeCanCanvas is a neat art tool designed for students to use to create anti-smoking posters.
#elemchat #spedchat #anti-smoking
Super cool graphics are provided as well as the ability to add your own images. Definitely for middle school and up.
Posters can be shared in their online gallery but an email is required to do so. I would just do a screen capture and save to my computer to print.
This would be perfect for our annual Drug Awareness Week.

Exciting new addition to my “Art: Paint/Draw/Create Online” Livebinder
#artchat #elemcaht #spedchat #posters
Create your own wallpaper is a fun (addicting) art tool that you can use to create your own wallpaper for your desktop. But it can be used for much more than that. I think it would be great for students to create cool abstract art and then add their own text to it. Their are so many options with this one and everyones project will turn out great. Add poems, quotes, rules, whatever you like. Super cool and fun!

Keep Calm and Carry On products can be seen everywhere, with lots of variations.  The saying can be seen on pillows, posters, t-shirts, coffee mugs, etc.  Well now your students can create their own using at Keep Calm-O-Matic.
With Keep Calm-O-Matic’s simple to use tool and their own imagination students can create their own personalized poster to print and frame if desired. These would make a great bulletin board. It would be interesting to see what students come up with. Students can choose artwork from the site or upload their own.
