Sporacle has a wide array of timed quizzes. Theses are great for classroom competitions as well a individuals trying to beat their own personal best.
The subjects include: science, geography, history, literature, language and others that are just for fun.
I think students could even work in groups on many of these.
I really liked this game where you had to come up with the most common 100 English words in 12 minutes.
Members can also create up to 7 games a month. Membership is free. You do not need to be a member to play the games.
Educational Idea: Students can create games to help them study or to be part of a class presentation.

Another nice find for my Math: Just the Facts Livebinder (via tweet from Chiltibrand).
Fun4theBrain is a free site where kids can practice mastering addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts, while playing games.  The graphics are colorful and there are fun added bonuses for completing levels on some games. There are plenty of games for students to choose from.
But that’s not all…what I really liked about this site were the self-grading addition and subtraction quizzes.  The format was very straightforward and I thought using these would be great practice for students to learn how to take tests online.
In our district students are being given online standard achievement tests and for many of them this is a first. When the Fun4theBrain quizzes are completed they are quickly graded and the results offer # correct, #incorrect, and the length of time the quiz took the student to complete.  It kind of reminded me of “mad minutes”.  Students can then print out the results and save in a folder or even graph their progress.  It is all easy to do and students will like to try and beat their previous performance.
I liked Fun4thebrain and look forward to the development of the site.  They also have games for science and english and add one game each month. I also spotted some drawing tutorials on the site.
I hope Fun4theBrain adds similar quizzes/tests for multiplication and division.

neoK12 offers videos, lessons, interactive diagrams, games, puzzles and quizzes for grades K-12. They feature an extensive science (videos, interactives, games, quizzes etc.)  collection where I believe it would be hard not to find something for your next science lesson. Below is a screenshot of the categories and subcategories in which you can look through.

Did you notice that they also have Science projects and experiments. Although their videos appear to come through Youtube (which is blocked at my school) we can view them easily. Puzzling? Super nice quality videos here.
Other video topics include: Social Studies, Math, English, History and fun videos.
The games are another highlight of neoK12.  They have a wide assortment of games and other interactives. Screenshot below.  I can’t believe I have never seen this resource before.

Screenshot of Brain Games and Puzzles below.

Ok…there is still more.  They even have a tool that allows students to create their own presentation using Flickr photos. This is quite cool.
This site will be added to my “Science” LiveBinder
