“Statetris” is an online game tetris game that drops states instead of shapes. Really nice game to help students learn where states are located in a fun way. The variations of the game as difficulty increases are really cool and will certainly challenge your students.
One note however, there is a quick ad (for HP I think). Use at your own discretion.
I’m adding this to my “America: Fifty Nifty States” LiveBinder.
Kids will absolutely love this one!Celebrate the 50 States with Wilson and Ditch…Digging America from PBS.
From the site: Wilson and Ditch teach students to embrace the vast beauty of the United States of America and will promote an appreciation for the diversity of people and places of America through humor and song from the perspective of two lovable and hilarious gophers that now call America their home. Wilson and Ditch: Digging America can be a child’s first introduction to American Studies. This area of study includes American history and culture. In Wilson and Ditch: Digging America, students will not only learn about the geography of each state but will also learn about the history, local culture, popular culture, arts and literature, nature sites, local ecology, monuments, and some of the state’s unusual locations. While following Wilson and Ditch on their journeys, students will gain map skills and learn more about the national identity of those who live in the USA.
The goals of this show are as follows: Added to America’s Nifty-Fifty States
Great site for a little friendly classroom competition, teams or individuals. I have added Ironic Sans: 50 States in 10 Minutes to my America: Fifty Nifty States LiveBinder.
I just added USA Printables the Presidents to my “Presidents for Kids” LiveBinder because of the massive amount of quality coloring pages they have for the Presidents of the United States including Barack Obama. Each coloring page has a description below it (not on the page) describing the presidential moment. These could be turned into booklets in many different combinations.

I am also adding their 50 states coloring pages to my America’s Fifty Nifty States LiveBinder. Another treasure trove of printables.
I just found a treasure trove of printables to add to my “America: Fifty Nifty States” LiveBinder. School Express has very nice worksheets for every state that students could use to create a nice booklet. Each state has aprox. 12 color worksheets that could easily be printed in black and white. They also have over 30 worksheet about the states as a group. Really nice find.

Learning Games for Kids has customized games for every state. This is a really nice collection of games featuring vocabulary and other details unique to each state. Above you will find a screenshot of the layout and games available for each state using Hawaii as an example.
From the site: “Learning about your state’s symbols is a right of passage for all upper elementary kids. Remembering your state flower, your state bird, your state tree, your state motto and even nickname can be difficult, but learning with online games can make it much easier and much more fun! Playing games is something kids love to do, even if they end up learning something along the way.”
…and I’m sure they will using these educational tools from Learning Games for Kids.
I’m adding this to my LiveBinder “America: Fifty Nifty States” under the games and interactives tab.
